Another bad, boring night.

When I 1st read that they were switching up the order of the guys & girls due to something medical for Crystal, my 1st thought was I hoped she was getting dental surgery. It is being said she has had problems w/ her diabetes. I am sorry for her if that's the case. But I don't think it is fair that they switched the whole show for her. In the past people have been pretty fricking sick & "the show must go on". Bo Bice was literally puking backstage between songs one night. On another season a really bad flu went around the house. But they are going to give Crystal special consideration? I'm just not cool w/ that.
& speaking of switching around, the judges continue their musical chairs. Now Randy was back on the end & Ellen was in between him & Kara. & they didn't switch the order of their critiques & Randy would go 1st each time & Simon last. I like it much better when they switch the order each time like they do on DWTS [which I won't be watching & recrapping this year due to Jake & Kate being on so if anyone wants to do it, let me know] cuz that is the fair way to do it. Then Simon doesn't get screwed due to the other judges blabbing so long & taking up all the time & he gets cut off. Not that he still doesn't get cut off. Kara won't STFU & I really think she is morphing fast & furiously into Paula. She even had Paula hair. Why can't she give her critique & then zip her fricking lip while Simon gives his? He doesn't talk over her. She doesn't have to say "I disagree" cuz it's fricking obvious you idiot. I guess I needed a Paula buffer to control my hatred for Kara. I just didn't like her last year. I guess my annoyance w/ Paula was front & center. Now every time Kara opens her mouth I want to whip the remote at the screen. OK. On w/ the show...
Michael - ‘This is a Man's World'
I thought he did a good vocal but he just doesn't make me feel the song. It's just really cheesy. I think he's adorable & he reminds me of John Coffee [was that his name? It doesn't look right.] from ‘The Green Mile'. Randy gave him a standing O. I so didn't think it deserved that but I guess w/ how awful this season is so far that performance is as close as you are gonna get. Ellen said she has liked every song choice he's made & thinks he's the one to beat. Kara said he went from being a singer last week to a potential great artist. Simon said he went from pussycat to lion. It was the right song. He's an old soul but it didn't sound dated. It was his best performance.
John - ‘Gravity'
Ugh. This was so BORING! & there was just something about his voice that was off. & I don't like how he performs either. It's bland. Randy said he didn't bring anything new to the song. It wasn't as good as the original & he had pitch problems. Ellen thought it was the right song for him but there could be more soul. Kara said it was way better than last week. But lacked connection & was a little safe. Simon said John's singing group Purple Haze may get their lead singer back. It was better than last week but he struggled w/ believability & you forget his performance after 20 minutes.
Casey - ‘I Don't Want to Be'
I think he thought this is a guitar competition or something. He played more guitar than sang. But that's a good thing. His voice just isn't anything special. & he has the annoying vibrato thing that just sounds whiny. This was really bad. I really like the song & it has been done to death on this show. Casey's excuse is that he grew up w/o a TV & has never seen AI. No excuse is good enough for that poor performance. Randy loves that he channeled Jimi Hendrix but it wasn't his best vocal. He does think that's Casey's kind of record. Ellen thinks you can't go wrong w/ that song. She thought he sounded great but he was stiff. I am sure Kara would be happy w/ his stiffness. But she didn't like him this week. She said he took 2 steps back. She called him out on his guitar playing & said it's a singing competition & what he did sing, the notes were of. Simon said it was a great song last week but this one you would hear in any bar. He tried to be a rock star & doesn't have the grit in his voice to make it authentic. It was more like sand. Ooh. Simon just nailed that critique. That's it exactly. There is no grit in his voice to pull off a rock song.
Alex - ‘Everybody Knows'
He played guitar as well. This is the problem w/ taking notes during the show & not writing it up til the next day. I guess I am exactly what Simon always says. All I have in my notes for Alex is ‘Blah'. I can't even remember what he did. I also do an arrow thing next to each name. Up, down or sideways for OK. He's got an arrow down. I can't even remember who this guy is. So I would say he definitely doesn't have star quality if I can't remember what he even looks like. Randy said it was such an improvement from last week & he's found his niche. Ellen brought up her banana thing again & said it is like someone put the green banana in a paper bag to ripen it fast. She thought that was so much better. She said under that mullet is a Sam Cooke voice. Oh, now I remember him. Carol Brady. Yeah, still don't care about him. Kara said there isn't a person who isn't rooting for him. Um, I think I would be in that category. It's not that I dislike the kid. I just don't care about him. Kara said he has a recordable voice. Simon said it was a million times better. He said you should only be nervous if you're useless. He told him he needs killer instinct. He thinks Alex is a good singer.
Todrick - ‘What's Love Got to Do w/ It'
Oh my God. Make him stop. At this point in the show I am really pissed that I am watching this before ‘Lost' cuz it is putting me to sleep. He can't sing & his performance is a turn-off. Randy said his falsetto run was hot. It's a great song but doesn't need the wild arrangement. He didn't love it. Ellen said he needs to sing & move cuz that's his strength. But she didn't think it was the right song. Kara asked what happened to him? Simon told him to move but not sing cuz this isn't working out at all. He said it was like a theme park performance. It was a very corny, bad version. Todrick is getting this completely & utterly wrong.
Jermaine - ‘What's Goin On'
The suckfest continued w/ yet another slowed down version. & the vocals sucked as well. & all I could think about was his Gumby hairdo. Randy thought it was better than last week but not a great performance. Ellen loves his style but it didn't work for her & she still thinks he is pushing too hard. Kara said he is hitting crazy notes but he always does too much. It feels forced. He doesn't need to do every trick. Simon said he is frustrated & disappointed. He waters it down. Jermaine asked what he should sing next week. Simon said he's not sure he will be there. Jermaine's comeback was that he "knows God". Ugh. Simon made me Lol when he said they don't need to give his phone line out then if he "knows God".
Andrew - ‘You Give Me Something'
So it's obvious now that Andrew is a one-trick pony. He takes every song & slows it down while he plays guitar & sucks the life out of it. I guess since Paula is such a shitty singer maybe that's why it worked so well on ‘Straight Up'. I'm just tired of the same thing every week from him. Plus the vocals aren't good either. Randy said he was pitchy all over & thinks he is way better than that. Ellen disagreed. She said there was a couple pitchy spots but she liked it a lot. She thinks his problem is he set the bar so high w/ ‘Straight Up'. Kara said he keeps going down & that was too safe. Simon said it's frustrating. He hasn't chosen the right song. It was OK but thinks Andrew is better than OK.
Aaron - ‘My Girl'
His vibrato just made him sound scared. The runs were excruciating to listen to. Randy thought the 1st ½ was brilliant but it ended strange. It was 200% better than last week. Ellen said he had more confidence but the song was a little forgettable. Kara really liked it & thinks he's consistent. Simon didn't like the song & he was all over the place. He went backwards & was too old fashioned.
Tim - ‘Come on Get Higher'
He played guitar as well. This was pretty rough & dull. I started bitching at my husband at this point. I haven't liked AI in a long time & I only really watch it cuz my husband wants to. I asked him at this point does he really want to continue on w/ this season? This is just so bad. Not Tim per se. Just in general. This season is awful. It's not like we got a cast of Sanjaya's, they just aren't anything special. I want a Kelly Clarkson that can make me feel the song & give me goosebumps. I just hate that I have to give up 4 hours of my life watching it & then all the time it takes to write these shows up. I could be doing something fun. Like cleaning the toilet. Anything is better than watching these lame ass singers. Randy said he didn't get it. It was karaoke & had pitch problems. Ellen said he should act cuz he has charisma & stage presence. Kara liked the song choice but he didn't make it his own. Simon disagreed & thought he made a marked improvement. He listened to the criticism last week. He's more relevant than a lot of the singers & is impressed by his work ethic & attitude.
Lee - ‘Lips of an Angel'
I LoLd at the song choice. My husband & I go to a tattoo shop a lot. Our artist always has his iTunes on shuffle & every time we are there, this song comes on. He says the song only comes on when we're there. It's an awful, cheesy song. But I think Lee's vocals were decent on it. Yeah he has pitch problems & he seems nervous. But just like last week, compared to the rest of the lame vocals we are given, he's like a star. Lee lives near me & I would definitely go check him out at a club. Randy likes that he takes chances & he came out of his comfort zone by not playing guitar this week. There were pitch problems but he liked it. Ellen said he didn't perform but his passion came out & thought it was great. Kara thought it was a great improvement. There were pitch problems but she could hear him on the radio now. He's very commercial. Simon said vocally he is head & shoulders about the guys. But he looked terrified. He has to have self-belief cuz he may be the one to beat.
Who should go?
Again, who cares? I thought Lee was the only good performance of the night & it wasn't perfect. As for my little arrow system, only Michael & John got the sideways arrow. Lee obviously was up. The rest were down. I think Jermaine is a goner. He sucked & his God crap has a lot of eyes rolling. I have seen online that Alex has a lot of fans. So I am going to guess he's safe. I will guess Todrick or John will leave w/ Jermaine. I know I thought John had an OK vocal but it is only compared to the snoozers we are subjected to. I don't think he has the personality that gets people to want to vote for him.
