It's group time in Hollywood. The girls were up first. There are also twice as many girls as there are guys. They were divided into groups of 6 but would sing individually for the judges.
Jorie Steinberg pointed out that was dressed like Paula. That didn't help her as her whole group was cut. Simon said none of them were any good & that it was a terrible way to start the day.
Perla Meneses is the Shakira chick. She had better luck but Simon said she is personality over talent right now. Rachel Jenkins is the girl whose husband is in Iraq & she didn't make it past this round.
Baylie Brown did the same song she did the last time & it worked & she got through. Ashlyn Carr, the girl who got the 2nd chance, was cut. So was Porcelana, the girl that said she trained by running for AI. The girl that lied to her parents & Ryan had her call her Dad was also cuz.
The last girl to sing did a song her Mom & Aunt wanted her to do even though she didn't want to. She was cut. Her Mom went back to talk to the judges & explain that her daughter didn't want to do the song. Simon got all pissy about this cuz he said it wasn't the song choice that cut her.
57 girls were cut the 1st day. The guys began on Day 2. Jarrod Miller is the Navy guy & he did ‘You Raise Me Up' & was cut. Matt Sato is the guy whose parents have never been supportive. He said after he called his Mom to tell her he made it through when he got home she hugged him & she never does that. He said he felt loved. I didn't know the song he did but he made it through. They didn't show us but my favorite, Chris Sligh, also made it through. A total of 34 guys made it, including Phil Stacy who missed his daughter's birth.
Then they moved on to the Group Sing. Matt Sato & some girl couldn't find a group. The girl cried until a guy asked her to join his. Chris Sligh choreographed something for his group that included the guy that beatboxes. Baylie Brown was stuck w/ the 2 bestfriends, Antonella Barba & Amanda Collucio. The friends bicker for a long time when they were supposed to be choosing 1 of the 9 songs to do.
Perla was w/ Gina Glocksen & Perla just can't harmonize. Gina tried helping her but it did next to nothing. Baylie's group couldn't remember their lyrics. Amanda decided to go flirt w/ boys instead of rehearsing so the other 2 went to bed.
Simon warns everyone on the start of Day 3 not to forget their words. But many did anyway. Like Matt Sato & he was cut. Perla Meneses was the only one cut from her group. Chris Sligh & the Beatbox guy made it through. Their whole group did actually & they put on a good show. Sundance Head also made it through even though he messed up his lyrics. Simon wasn't happy about him getting through & told Paula she was too generous cuz the guy has had 2 bad days. Sundance knows he has been bad.
Baylie Brown messed up her words badly. So did Amanda. But only Baylie was cut. She blamed the other 2 girls & Amanda showed what a snatch she was by saying that them getting through over her proves that God loves good people. & she denied flirting w/ the guys so the camera cuts to the night before when she was doing just that.
36 were cut & 56 move on to Day 4. Each finalist performs solo & the judges will cut them down to 40 by putting them in 3 rooms. The 1st 2 rooms make it. Chris Sligh & the Beatbox guy were 2 of them. Antonella made it through & her bitchy friend was thankfully cut. I think Sundance made it through too. So did Sanjaya but not his sister.
Tomorrow they will be cut down to the Top 24 - 12 girls & 12 guys.
