Aside from the unsavory developments on Wednesday night, a hugely unsavory development occurred Thursday.

Contestant Ricky Braddy's fansite, thebraddybunch.com, was forced to shut down when the show/19 Entertainment/FOX issued a legal "Cease and Desist" Letter to the site.

In a post on a website called missingsquare.com, the explanation:

Hey loyal Braddy Bunch Followers!

Here is the what is going on. We were contacted and threatened in horrendous ways by FremantleMedia, 19 Entertainment, and FOX, explaining that we were an unfair advantage to the rest of the contestants by operating this site. They threatened us with a cease and desist letter, and instructed us that if we didn't comply they would pull ricky from the competition.

As we are looking out for the best of Ricky, for now we have complied. We are a very very smart group over here, and plan on taking this infringement on our first amendment to the top. Many people think this has been taken down because "the brady bunch" had issues, which let me explain IS NOT THE CASE!

We will be back! So please hold on while we get all our ducks in a row, and settle up with the wrong doings of American Idol.

We encourage you to please keep rooting for Ricky, as regardless he will succeed and has a VERY bright future! For some reason they have REALLY come down hard on us, and not others in the competition...whatever that is suppose to mean!

A subsequent "anonymous" post on the missing square website, which appears to be from a FOX executive, indicated that the letter was sent out because Braddy's parents wore t-shirts on the air with site's web address.

So that this contestant, who got the historically bad No. 2 singing slot, no TV time, and an unfair shot from Simon Cowell after the other Three Stooges heaped praise on his excellent performance, who was not voted in to the Top 12, has an unfair advantage.

As opposed to say, Hokey Goatskey, who has been given massive amounts of airtime by the show, put into the preferable anchor performance slot, and permitted to exploit the death of his wife to advance, has not been given an unfair advantage because it was orchestrated by Ken Warwick and Simon Fuller. That's not to mention Warwick's truly disgusting act of having the camera pan to one of Goatsky's buddies in the audience and focus on a photograph of him and his deceased wife. Or that Goatsky's three fansites don't constitute an unfair advantage. Or that Nashville Star NEVER has a problem putting signs containing contestant websites on camera during the show.

If Warwick, Fuller & Co. wanted this guy out so bad, why was he put into the Top 36 in the first place? Just to humiliate him and his family? The only offense that was committed was that his parents wore t-shirts bearing the website's address for maybe 60 seconds. Mom and Pop Braddy surely had no idea that they were doing something wrong. And if they were, where were the producers before the show aired, or even before Braddy performed, to give them a heads up? A simple "you can't wear a t-shirt on air bearing the web address for your son's fansite" would have solved the problem before it became one.

This stupid war against a very talented singer who is a threat to the "Producer Favorties" is unjustified, and must end now.
