JD Roth takes the summer classic & tweaks it a little to torture the houseguests a little more.

So this show is ‘Big Brother’ but darker. 9 people are put in a bunker underground that obviously has no windows. They won’t have any contact with the outside world & no sense of time. The will have to decide unanimously between them who is to win the $1.5 million dollars.
Once they arrive a Big Brother-like voice tells them to gather at the “Inner-Circle”. In other words, the kitchen table. Then instead of Julie Chen on the plasma they see just producer JD Roth’s head. Reminded me of Max Headroom without the twitches. Someone please refresh my memory too. I know this guy used to host a kid’s gameshow but I can’t remember what. Anyway, JD tells them about the money since they didn’t know about it before. They have to decide who to award the money to & if anyone quits & leaves the money is cut in half.
Jamie cries & says she thinks she had a panic attack & may want to leave. The others don’t want her to go to lose half the money so talk her out of it.
Then we are introduced to the villain, Kelly. She is a minister who believes every word of the bible. Well the way she interprets those words anyway. Jameson immediately dislikes her as he is gay. He tells them he’s gay & Kelly voices the lame line of God created Adam & Eve not Adam & Steve. Now, I am not religious & have never read the bible so don’t know the story. But if God only created 2 people then how did the world get so populated? Does that mean that brothers & sisters slept together? & if so, how is that better than man laying with man? This woman infuriates me.
The next morning Jonathon begins his lie & tells everyone he isn’t feeling well cuz he just took his medicine for testicular cancer. Kelly bought it & then stupidly says he can cure himself by praying on it. She & Jameson get into it again. She tells him he is going to Hell & he says she will be right there beside him. He says he will never vote for her & knows she will never vote for him.
Steve tells us he wants the money for good & wants to take care of his kids & Grandkids. They are called to the Inner-Circle again & JD tells them they will have to vote for someone to get the money. There are 9 spheres & each person takes one. Inside is a dial that has everyone’s name but their own cuz they can’t vote for themselves. They cast their vote & then put the sphere in a habitrail like thing. Or think of those things at the bank. JD then reads the votes. Steve gets the first 3. Then there was a vote for Vanessa but the votes continue since that could have been Steve’s vote. The next one was for Jamie so it is not unanimous & they will not be getting out today. JD continues reading the votes though. Jonathon got a vote while Jamie & Tarah each got 2 votes. Richard said that figures that Vanessa didn’t get as many votes as the other 2 girls cuz she is not 25, single & pretty.
JD tells them there will always be “dire consequences” for not coming to a unanimous vote. Richard tells us if he could pick he would choose to split the money equally & all go home. JD said they will now have to decide who doesn’t get the money & make that person an outcast. Each of them has a secret that they have put in envelopes. They have to pick 3 envelopes at random & read the secrets aloud. They will not know whose secrets they are. They will then decide which one is the worst. Then that person is out.
The first one is someone claimed bankruptcy even though they were worth $100,000. Someone else was a patient in a mental ward. The last one was someone has been detained by the police for having live ammunition. I thought this was easy. 2 of them were pretty vague. You don’t know why someone was in a mental ward, for how long & how long ago. The live ammunition one? No idea what the context is. I thought the bankruptcy one was the nastiest one & that was before I knew the snatch Kelly was the one with this secret. Kelly tried to take attention away from her love of money [which is a sin by the way] & deflected to the mental illness. That was Richard’s secret. Tarah’s was the live ammunition. We didn’t get to see what they decided cuz it is To Be Continued…
Next week we find out that the person voted out doesn’t leave the bunker & will still vote each week. Their money will shrink every second they don’t come to a unanimous decision. Kelly threatens to leave which makes me believe she got voted out. I wish she would leave. I can’t stand people like her that interpret the bible the way they want but then their sins are ok.
