The guys were so much better than the girls this week.

Taylor sang ‘Easy’. I thought it was a good pick for his voice & liked it. The judges didn’t agree. Randy said he still likes him. Paula loves his enthusiasm but that wasn’t her favorite song choice. Simon said it didn’t work for him.
Elliott sang “Moody’s Mood For Love’. His Mom was sick when he went to Hollywood & was in the hospital. It was hard for him to concentrate. She is better now & was in the audience. Elliott blew me away. That was just so unbelievably good. Randy said he enjoys him. He thinks he is a natural & is amazing. He gave him a standing O & said he is a hot one. Paula said that was one of the most difficult songs & was brilliant. Simon said he has grown in confidence but you can’t win a song w/ this w/ a song like that.
Ace sang ‘If I’m Not Made For You’. He always has a beanie in his pocket like a kid w/ a security blanket. I absolutely hated the song but he sang it well. But it was hard to really judge his singing cuz the song was so boring & blah. I also hated his pants. They are the ones real fashionable now where it is lighter down the front of the legs but for me it leaves it darker in the center so you look like you pissed yourself & it makes me giggle. Randy said the song showed his range & thinks he sings better than he lets on. Paula thought the song selection was on point but he needs to take more risks. Simon thought Ace struggled w/ the song & if you watch it back you will see it isn’t that good. Ace made the excuse that he has been practicing a lot so his voice has suffered. Then he threw his beanie into the “Poodle Pound” & of course Brenna was like the awful bridesmaid knocking people out of the way to grab the garter.
Gedeon did ‘Change is Gonna Come’. He forgot the lyrics to his songs in the Hollywood auditions & vows to never have that happen again. I had a hard time concentrating on the song cuz my husband said Gedeon reminded him of David Alan Grier acting like a singer. That is so dead on. But I did like what he did w/ the song & it was good. Randy said he is a great natural performer & ended amazing. Paula said he is unique, smart & awesome. Simon said he is a funny little thing. He didn’t know what to make of Gedeon but he did that music brilliantly & it was a very good performance.
Kevin sang ‘I Heard it Through the Grapevine’. Many jokes were made about him being a sex symbol & a gansta. You could tell he was having fun up there & it wasn’t horrible, definitely better than 99% of the girls last night but it just isn’t the best. Randy said he really enjoyed that. He can sing & said it was a good job. Paula said he in infectious & makes everyone smile. For once I agree w/ her. Simon said he really is in La La Land. He does like Kevin but if he heard that on the radio he would turn it off. Ryan told us that Paris calls Kevin Chicken Little from the movie & they showed a picture & there is a resemblance.
Sway sang ‘Overjoyed’. It started bad. Had some parts that were pretty good. I thought it was miles better than his falsetto last week. Randy said it wasn’t as good as last week but he has skills. Paula thought he was disconnected & not in the zone. Simon said that was exactly hot not to win this show. He said it was pure karaoke & he won’t make the finals if he carries on like that.
Will sang ‘Lady’. He was excited that he recently got to meet Justin Guarini. I thought the song was just too pretty. The guy can sing but I don’t know. Something was just off for me. Randy said he has to show his amazing vocals & that was just aiight. Paula said he has a nice tone & controls it nice but that was too safe & a little bland. Simon said it was like an audition for Cats & thinks his target audience of 11-year-old girls will like it.
Bucky sang ‘Thunder Rolls’. I thought it was really weak. Randy thought it was a great song choice even though there were pitch problems. He did his thing. Paula said he hit every note nice & he was feelin it. She said good job. Simon said he likes him cuz he seems sincere but thinks of him as a supporting act for the bigger stars on the show.
David did ‘The Way You Look Tonight’. So not my thing. It isn’t horrible, just not what I am into. Randy said he stayed in his zone but it bored him. Paula said he was in his zone but she has seen him perform better & he didn’t connect w/ the band. Simon said at times he has the best voice for this kind of material but you have to have charisma & confidence to pull it off but he was nervous & that’s not gonna work.
Chris closed the night w/ ‘Hemorrhage’. Now you’re talking my language. I am a rocker chick all the way & he was smokin’. Loved it. Randy said he loved it & he is right where he is supposed to be. That could be on the radio & he knows who he is. Paula asked if he knows how good he is. He is amazing & had a magic moment, one of many to come. Simon said there has been a lot of compliments tonight but that was the only performance that stands up in the real world. He is the standard that every guy should look towards.
Now I liked Chris’ performance a lot but I thought Elliott owned the night. Chris was #2. As for the bottom 2? I didn’t have any arrows down, while last night almost every one was down. So I guess my personal picks would be David cuz that genre is not for me & then I guess.. tough call. I guess I will say Sway cuz I hated last week & he was weak tonight.
