We start off with a chorus of “Happy Monday!!!” I think they give Gretchen and Marcellas the same happy drugs that everybody at the Disney store seems to be on. By Candihope

Anyway, on to the show. Today’s guest is Janelle, who is on the phone. (She is back in Miami Beach.)
After a rather awkward pause, Gretchen stutters out a question “Um, um, um… so Janelle, in the house when went in and the guys were like ‘hubba hubba’…” (Already this doesn’t bode well for a hard hitting, journalistic interview. Today's topic will center around blondes.) Marcellas mentions that Janelle’s blonde-ness kind of worked against her in that other HGs had some preconceived notion that she would be a dumb blonde.
Marcellas asks her what she’s been up to. Janelle says she went to Minnesota to visit her family, and got recognized at the mall with Ashlea. Marcellas takes the opportunity to tell everyone that he went out with Lisa and people recognized him first, then saw her, like, “Oh, yeah, you were the one that won.”
Marcellas mentions other HGs that live in Miami. Janelle says she has talked to Beau. It sounds like they are civil to each other but they’re not exactly best of friends. She has been talking to Howie. (He will be on House Calls next week.)
The first caller asks Janelle if she is still planning to have a get-together at her house for the other HGs. Janelle says Michael is coming over, as well as Ashlea too, then Sarah and James are coming down later. The caller continues to talk to Janelle like they’re old buddies while Marcellas and Gretchen make faces at each other. The caller comments to Marcellas that she loves him and isn’t going to bash him, that he has so many fans “out here.” Gretchen looks uneasy. Marcellas thinks that the HGs need to make some apologies to each other, but not continually “mea culpa” to the public. (Is it just me, or does he need to get a new phrase… I am getting tired of him saying “mea culpa” on every single episode.) Gretchen asks Janelle what she thinks about people needing to make apologies. Janelle thinks Ivette’s comments about her soul were kind of bad, and that there were some things on the live feeds that Maggie said that were very bad about her (Janelle). Apparently there was some story told inside the house that Janelle sold something on ebay and they said she was a bad person for not giving it away to charity instead of selling it on ebay. Marcy asks if she wants an apology. Janelle says, “not from Maggie.” It sounds like she doesn’t really care to have anything to do with Maggie. Janelle says Ivette has made some kinds of amends, or at least tried.
Marcy and Gretchen pick up the line on the second caller, then dance in their seats while the caller talks about the “Fiendship” and how they bashed Janelle. The caller asks Janelle what she thinks about what they did to her clothes and underwear. Janelle says she was surprised to find out that BB would let them do that. Gretchen and Marcellas say they would never do something like that. Janelle says it’s horrible behavior for them to have gone through her things.
The next caller tells Janelle she has a beautiful soul and asks if she has been posting on or reading Ivette’s website. Janelle says she has read it a little and felt that Ivette was trying to apologize but couldn’t fully do it or account for her actions.
The next caller comments that less attractive people are insecure about smart, beautiful people. Gretchen asks the caller if she is blonde, and she says yes. The caller says attractive blondes are seen as b!tches and “cannot be smart.” Gretchen thinks there is a tendency to discriminate against blondes in the workplace- to think they are secretaries, etc. She has read there was a study that executives would give blondes a lower salary and more menial jobs than brunettes. Gretchen asks Janelle for her opinion. Janelle doesn’t think men have a problem, but some women can think that way about blondes. Marcellas asks Janelle why she dyed her hair blonde. Janelle says it started out as highlights and eventually was all blonde. Marcellas asks if it helps her career to be blonde. Janelle says she loves it and wouldn’t ever go back to brunette. She thinks she looks better and it is more eye-catching. Marcellas mentions that naturally blonde hair is genetically more rare than darker hair colors. Janelle says she read an article that says blonde hair is associated with youth. Gretchen says she was blonde as a child then her hair got darker as she got older. Marcellas mentions that it doesn’t happen to people of color unless they “Pull a Venus and Serena.” (Tennis players Venus and Serena Williams)
The next caller says she wants a Janie doll. She goes on to say she is a hairdresser, and that blonde hair reflects light better and it is more eye-catching. This caller did an experiment where she went out shopping “all grungy” and got bad service, then went home and cleaned up and fixed her hair, makeup, etc, and went to the same places, and got better service. Marcellas asks how often people ask for blonde haircolor or highlights. Caller says it happens a lot. (DUH!) Gretchen talks about dying her hair blonde; the caller mentions that awful wig Gretchen wore on an episode of House Calls. Gretchen says blonde hair didn’t suit her, and mentions that her sister dyed her hair blonde and she got a lot more attention from men. Thanks for sharing. Uh, is Janelle still there? Isn’t this show supposed to be about her?
Back to Janelle. (Oh, good, she is still there.) Marcellas asks Janelle to put something random out in the cosmos. She says, “Cosmo?” Marcellas jokes that she had a blonde moment. (Oh, ha, ha, that Marcellas… so witty.) They bring on the next caller, who wants to know how Janelle kept her color in the house. Janelle says she brought a touch-up kit and did the roots every 3 weeks. Marcellas mentions that having video of him shaving his head was more personal than pics of him in the “little boy’s room.” Janelle agrees that it was a little invasive. She mentions Maggie’s roots needing a touch-up really badly toward the end of the game. Janelle mentions that Kaysar helped her with her hair, Marcellas finds this hilarious, asks if she talks to Kaysar, Jan says she does.
The next caller is a blonde, she says Janelle is really beautiful and smart, Marcellas and Gretchen are pointing at something on the set and whispering. They don’t seem to be listening, but I guess they heard part of it. Gretchen tries to get a deeper meaning, something about how the show holds a mirror up- the caller is blonde and hates to be judged, yet she judged Janelle the same way when she first entered the house. Gretchen mentions Holly and how she is the opposite of Janelle. Gretchen says voices influence her judgment (Ugh, just thinking about Holly’s high pitched squeak gives me a headache.)
Next they hang up on a caller by accident. Nice. Sorry Davis, call back next week.
Now Marcellas has a serious question for Jan. He says she said some very mean things in the house, and asks if she wants to address those things. Janelle says, in the house, it feels good to say things about people you don’t like. She says, in the moment, she was upset and she would just say it, even though that’s not what she really thinks. She says she is sorry about what she said about Ivette and especially about Tush.. Marcellas says, yeah, there is always one person who you sort of fixate on, mentions that Janelle was the one the Nerd Herd fixated on.
They pick up the next caller, but Marcellas and Gretchen all talk over each other and her- it's hard to understand what they’re saying. The caller compliments Janelle on her game and her transformation as a player, and says she’s a blonde too (to cover up gray). The caller’s daughter wants to know, on the night of her eviction, who designed the top that Janelle was wearing. Janelle says the lavender shrug is by Arden B, camisole by Betsey Johnson. Marcy starts screaming about how they’re not supposed to be promoting designer names. Whoa. Calm down.
The next caller says he had predicted that Janelle would influence Howie and Rachel in the jury house, and wants to know if a lot of talking went on. Janelle says they weren’t supposed to talk to each other, but there was a lot of talking by the other side who were against Ivette winning. Gretchen asks why they were against Ivette so much. Apparently Rachel was still hurt by the horrible goodbye message Ivette left her. Marcy mentions that Ivette had a chance to fix that during jury questioning, and she didn’t.
Finally, the show is coming to an end. Marcy has some kind of cryptic message for Janelle that he is supposed to give her someone’s number. Gretchen advertises next week’s show featuring Howie. They adlib to the end about watching the CBS fall lineup, then, thankfully, cut to the production room, where the guys behind the scenes wave at us. Maybe they should host the show next week. That would be a refreshing change.
