So, yeah...I'm behind, but that doesn't mean I don't have an opinion! Hehe, take time to look back on the last half of the season. What an emotional ride! By Jlynn206

Let me just say that I LOVE Canadian Idol. I am going to have a hard transition back into the swing of American Idol. I love Ben Mulroney. I think he is an awesome, sincere, and genuine host. He's what America needs. A normal guy, who is funny without being annoying, and nice without being plastic. Go away Ryan Seacrest, go away! Also, their John Door fellow is hilarious. I found myself looking forward to his improv. bits, just as much as the singing....well almost.
THe judges are another plus to the Canadian show. They actually have intelligent, constructive things to say. Even Zac, the supposed Simon like guy, really cares about these kids and even when he says something mean it actually gives the kids some kind of advice. You actually feel like these judges are balance each other and are qualified to be doing what they are doing. There's no one on our panel that can sing. To me that's a big problem.
The whole feel of Canadian Idol is amazing. THere's no one to hate, no one to get bitter over, and no judging manipulation. It's a joyful ride, and actually caused me to be teary eyed like I was the very first season of AI.
Now on to the singing: I can't remember everything from the episodes I need to catch up on, so I'll comment on what stayed with me.
JOSH: After wowing on big band night things weren't so hot for this crazy kid. I find his voice to be grating and his singing placement to be exruciating. His personality comes off very arrogant. Like he tries to come off humble and just fails. On classic rock night his vocals may have sent Mr. Clapton into fits of panic. Yes the last guitar lick was "cool," but I also felt like it was cheating. Anyway, that was the end of dear, creepy Josh.
CASEY: So Classic Rock night she sang "I'll Stand by You" if I remember correctly. It was pretty jammin'. While she has to get used to how tall she is and being comfortable in her body and on stage, I just love her voice. While Melissa is a better performer, and also a good vocalist, I'd dare to say tthat when Casey's vocals are on I like her voice better. The kids got talent, and I hope one day she gets to shine. I found her mildly boring on "Guess Who" night, which is the night she left us. But she really started showing us some emotion at the end. I'm proud of her!!! She should always where he hair long, dramatic, and down. It gives her edge.
SUZI: She sang the HECK out of Janis and I loved it! She sang the heck out of American Woman, and I loved it! She got it back! She exuded coolness and confidence for both these songs. You felt like you were at a Suzi concert! Amazing. Elvis night wasn't quite as hot. While, I definitely liked her emotional bang with Heartbreak Hotel, her vocals were mildly piercing. I know she was going for Heartbreak, but it was just a bit overboard. I still enjoyed it. Her ballad that night was a bit rough vocally, but I admire the direction she was attempting to take it. She was trying to show versatility that night, but it was a bad night to do it. Thus, bye bye to Suzi. I want her cd when it comes out though!
AARON: Aaron sang my least favorite Foreigner song on classic rock night, but had a load of fun with it. He SHINED on Guess Who night, that was amazing. I love "These Eyes" and he just nailed it. Aaron is by far the best vocalist, but he has a very specific vocal style that doesn't work for everyone or everything. I wasn't really impressed at all with him on Elvis night, just very uninspired. I thought for sure Suze would stay, but alas it is unlucky to have your birthday on the results day this year.
REX: I just love Rex. I KNOW he doesn't have the strongest vocals, but there is something so honest and endearing about him. It's just refreshing in an industry of fakes and frauds. He's you regular guy who will jam out to "Turn the Page." On Guess Who night I was so excited!!! He did AMAZING on "No SUgar TOnight." He never ceases to surprise me because he's just him and that makes you not expect as much, but then he brings it. I loved it. I haven't really commented on BNL night because while I think it's great that they are an awesome Canadian band, they just aren't very useful to a vocal competition. On the final night Rex showed why he was still here and that he deserved it all the way. I loved his "Alive" andhope he gets to record it as well. Bullet proof kinda bored me, but it showed a different side of Rex. I can't wait to buy his cd.
MELISSA: I was so happy for her. She finally won over my best friend while we watched the last few shows. She did very well on "Alone," but not as good as Carrie's vocals. I honestly cannot remember what she did on Guess Who night, which probably isn't a good thing. Ah, unless it was her first really bad performance. She brought it home on Elvis night, loved it. "You'll Never Walk Alone" was subtle and beautiful. "A Little Less Conversation" was fun anf flirty. I wasn't wild about either of the judges choices, but that's not to say Melissa didn't do well with it. Alive was a totally different song when she sang it, then Rex, and I enjoyed both versions. Compared to Diana, I think Melissa really showed us that while she was the strongest girl here, it might not have been that way had she been against say, LaToya, Diana, Fantasia, and Jennifer. Diana held that last note out for ten years, I felt like Melissa was holding back. My friend likes that she doesn't over sing, but i feel like sometimes she undersings. That said, it was still really good.
Melissa O'Neill is the Canadian Idol and she totally deserves it. She is an awesome person and I hope she crosses over to the states at some point. I enjoyed Kalan Porter, I had never heard him sing before. I was terrified of Hedley, absolutely petrified. I was a bit iffy on Sass's song, thought she over sang a bit and her vibrato is a bit unnerving. I want to hear some of her music. Bryd's song and their tribute to her was just beautiful!!! If i were here I'd just to Canada. I loved all the duets and group numbers on the finale! It reinstated that I really am just not a fan of Emily or Amber. Blah. And that's about all.....
