I have to admit - I'm really not a fan of reality TV though I do take in a little of American Idol. I really got hooked when I watched the hottie on Outback Jack. Anyway, my husband tricked me into watching The Apprentice and I'm hook, line and sinker into this show! By JenniL

At first I was confused. The thinking of big business is definitely not my field. For example, when poor (or is it stupid beyond belief) Bradford got fired. Surely because he showed some bravado, chutzpa in the boardroom, he would be rewarded for taking a huge chance and allowing himself to be on the chopping block - come on now! Oh, how wrong was I. "....a fatal mistake..." Trump said. And did he dwell on it. A stupid, impulsive decision that could wreck a career, a business. It made sense.
So I learned some Trump thinking. Next task, I really watch the women. I found myself thinking that surely Trump would want to get rid of one of the whining, manipulative, catty women. What possible job could be entrusted to them? But again I listen to his reasoning and he explains that looking at the bigger picture takes precedence over the task itself.
A good example - Stacie J was the target of Apex even though as one woman put it, "Stacie J was not the reason we lost .." from episode 3. I thought surely the project manager (Elizabeth) or the women (Ivana or Maria) in charge of the budget would be axed. I won't repeat all of the boardroom sequence, but at the end, Trump merely said "I can't have a loose cannon on my hands...". I don't think he necessarily thought Stacie J was crazy; however, there was a consensus of the group that may have swayed his decision. He further commented, "....have this kind of stress on my team..." Another lesson in Trump thinking.
Did this mean that the other women were better performers than Stacie J? Or maybe better conspirators? Again, this week when Pamela got fired, who was a strong, tough competitor. She made a fatal decision on pricing, but it was more than just that. I hope the other Apex members didn't think it was because they were any better businessmen than her. It again was a big picture analysis of assessing people, their skills and capabilities.
I have to say: I thought Pamela did an excellent job. It did seem nearly impossible to be able to assess this group of women quickly, but again Trump thinking tells me that in the business world, one must step up quickly which Pamela did, but also accurately.
I personally never liked Donald Trump so it's ironic that I would listen to him or even respect him. However, it's him that has 100 companies, not me, a lowly journalist. I'm even kind of excited to see what other challenges to be tackled by the competitors. I do have one negative opinion about the show: I do wish that it was not women versus men, but I've learned a little about a different kind of thinking. And I'm kind of glad of my not so exciting job.
