Skills and egos are put to the test when TBS's new reality series THE MANSION premieres Saturday, Oct. 2, at 10 a.m. (ET/PT). THE MANSION, from Evolution Film & Tape, Inc. (Switched!, Bands Reunited), ups the ante on home-renovation as eight supercharged competitors renovate a Cincinnati mansion that one of them will eventually get to keep. Hosted by Mark L. Walberg (Temptation Island), the series challenges amateur remodelers to work together on home-improvement projects with time and budget constraints, while facing personality conflicts, sharing a living space and following the leadership of a new foreman each week.

In Episode 1, the eight contestants arrive at the Mansion and receive their first project: renovating the West Wing in five days with $35,000. The West Wing, containing four bedrooms, a sleeping porch and a bathroom, becomes the living quarters for the cast for the remainder of the series.

Kim is boondoggled into being the first foreman, but Amanda doesn't think Kim has what it takes to lead the group causing tempers to flare. Without a clear plan, the group bites off more than they can accomplish by completely demolishing the bathroom, trying their hands at electricity and attempting to refinish hardwood floors.

Unexpectedly, Walberg pays the contestants a special visit. He tells them that they have the chance to increase their weekly payday by taking half to a local casino. A helicopter whisks two of the contestants away to gamble their money and potentially win $20,000 or lose it all.
