The downward spiral continued last night on Temptation Island as all the Couples embarked on dates with the single that their partner felt was the most threatening.
Anthony and Tiffany have a good first date, and so do Eric and Maria. Nothing remarkable--yet.
The date between Jason and Amy was uncomfortable for everyone--poor guy still hasn't stopped moping about being separated from Kara. Despite being in a tropical jungle, Jason felt that the hiking (be honest--walking) was too hard, his water at lunch smelled fishy, and some one was determined to ruin his meal by secretly putting mayo on his plate. Amy seemed to tolerate his whining until she realized all that came out of his mouth were complaints. Date ends with Jason playing with his drink. Utter boredom.
Michael and Tayana on the other hand seemed to get along much better on their bumper tubing date, with Tayana giving us a glimpse into her trailer-park techniques of snaking her way into Mama's boys lap with a straddle. Michael loves it (his mom never lets him watch porn at home) and flirts back. He wants to get her drunk, she says she doesn't need it, and they seem to end the date on a good note. I on the other hand am still brushing the taste of that date out of my mouth.
The women seem to fair equally as well, all enjoying their dates and beginning to think about all the perks of this Island. Most notable of these dates were Stephanie and Derrick, where we learn that Anthony has previously asked her to marry him, but she just wasn't ready. Aha! We now get to see why poor Anthony looks like he is afraid to touch all the single woman at his camp. All I can say is it doesn't look good for Anthony so far...
The date that disturbed me the most was between Jason's nemesis Jeff and Kara . Jeff apologizes to Kara almost immediately after returning to the island for his actions with Jason. Surprisingly, Kara seems not to have any problems with the rift. She happily goes on the date with him, gets a massage, lets him take a couple sleazy gropes, and participates in some awkward hugging. Jeff cannot stop smiling. I am questioning Kara's IQ at this point. C'mon, Jason may be a meathead, but Rico Suave is trying way too hard. Please!
After all the woman have returned from their dates and had time to dread what may be next, we learn that they are headed back to the infamous bonfire. Mark informs them that the time has come to decide whether or not they would like to watch the videotape from their boyfriend's first dates with the single woman. Ah, decision time!!
First up: Kara: states no. OK, her IQ just started to bounce back.
Second is Melissa who states that she wants to know exactly what's going on. I wonder if Ms. NY's public relations person really thought this was good exposure for Melissa, for she appears to be a slight control freak. She was not expecting the trailer-love that Tanaya was giving Michael, and she was appalled that he was actually flirting back! Tsk tsk...and she felt bad for him when no one wanted to give up their bracelet for him on the last episode. She is not happy and this was not what she was expecting. I think in her head she is secretly hoping he is de-loused from the cooties that Tanaya has...
Stephanie decides that she would like to watch the video of Anthony. Why? Why Why Why? The video of his date was as exciting as a public service poster about venereal disease. Stephanie seems satisfied that ABSOLUTELY NOTHING happened. This kid is so boring--no wonder she said no to an engagement!
Last is Kristin who said a flat out no to watching the tape because she wants the experience to be all hers and she doesn't want to react to what Eric is doing. She was just voted the smartest of the woman so far.
Mark goes back to Kara and...wait a minute--did Kara just decide she wanted to watch the tape of Jason?
She's not the brightest star in the sky--seriously, how smart is it to watch his tape knowing he will be horrified at yours? She watched him complain and smiles happily. She feels satisfied now that she has seen this tape, and Mark gently reminds her that the tape shows the Jason that "hasn't changed". Haven't they only been there for 2 days? Mark, it isn't fair to pick on the dumb girl because Kara now looks like she will cry. Does anyone have a familiar feeling that this girl is eerily similar to Catharine from the last season????
The woman have set the ball in motion and now we see all the men at the bonfire waiting to find out they have no choice in seeing the tapes of their girlfriends dates because the woman have made this decision. Eric is fine with it, saying exactly what Kristin said about this being "his experience" (its obvious there were hours of conversation between the two) and approves of her decision. Michael watches Melissa and really doesn't have too much of a reaction except to say that he isn't going to act differently because of the tape. He was still too dumbfounded by Tayana's...face, yes her face. What--were you thinking differently?
Anthony watches the tape of Stephanie with Derrick which shows some fun times jet skiing and a night at the pool with all the other guests. He gets overly upset because it shows she was sitting on Derrick's shoulders and playing chicken in the pool . Whoa there hothead. I almost thought that he was shown something completely different--I saw no reason to get upset. Anthony views it as he's being the shy, reserved guy while his girlfriend is out actually communicating with the other people--I mean men--on the Island. He then vows that this will make him change and be more open to the experience. Ugh, this guy is too much to handle. Strike 2!
What you have been waiting for is to hear how Vin/Jason freaked when he saw the video of Kara and Rico Suave, and his reaction is predictable right to the vein popping out of his forehead. He also has the pleasure of being the only man to have close-caption on his tape and gets to see that Rico also romances his woman with an "I love you" in Spanish. Jason will not speak after the tape is done, and his fellow boyz around him try not to laugh at how Jason's worst nightmare literally came true in front of his eyes--and this is the first date! At this point we can start checking Jason and Kara off the list of couples who have a snowball's chance in hell of coming out of this together-or with their sanity intact.
Next week: Testosterone overtakes the woman's camp as all the single men aggressively compete to land one of the woman, and the men dare to break out of their shells and start enjoying the bikini's and the woman in them.
