Date Party!!!! The episode kicks off at the DZO house where the girls are tied up in the details of the upcoming date party event. *Amy explains that this years date party is going to be over the border in Canadia, everyone brings dates and there is dancing. *Mackenzie is really jazzed about the event, because it’s a fancy, dress up event. At the meeting, the girls hash out the appropriate attire, and Talia dampens the mood by insisting that the event is not formal. Courtney doles out the details of the menu—chicken fingers, little pizzas and baby hot dogs—so yeah, I guess it’s not formal. *Courtney is the date party chair, so she finds the location, DJ, decorations, etc. Sadly, she has yet to secure a DJ. Julia to the rescue offers up her boyfriend’s little brother as DJ. After a rousing bit of laughter from the other girls, that suggestion dies a quick death.

Later at the pledge house, Brooke is whining to Melissa and Julia that she doesn’t have a dress or a date yet. Melissa is a bit shocked, but suggests that she ask some from Sigma Chi to go. Julia offers up her friend David who is a REALLY nice guy who won’t just try to get into her pants…awwwwh, how could she resist that tempting invite? Brooke seems unmoved by Julia’s insistence, and I’m beginning to wonder if Brooke is just frigid. *But she explains that finding a cute boy at UB is more difficult than finding a gay man working out in sweatpants.

So rather than go in search of a new boy, Brooke opts to ask her ex-boyfriend Sean. *Brooke explains that he can’t go, because he has a game, but she is trying to be understanding about it. Huh? If he is your ex-boyfriend, why in blazes name would he care about your understanding? After a brief scene where Sean rejects Brooke’s invite, *Brooke continues to whine about her date party date—or lack thereof. She feels like the other girls are pressuring her to have a date to the event. At first she didn’t really care, but now she does. Yawn!

Here’s a surprise: *Nicole picks Tim as her first choice to go with her to date party. Nicole expresses her worries about the possibility that Tim’s pledging might interfere with his ability to go to the date party with her to Brittany. *Brittany thinks that the fact that Nicole is bringing Tim to the date party is a little bit pathetic (don’t we all), because of everything that Tim’s shenanigans have put Nicole and the other sisters through. *Nicole explains that the sisters don’t like Tim, because he led many of the Sigma Chi pranks. This statement of the obvious is followed by a black-and-white re-cap of Tim’s pranks and the sisters’ disdain for him. *Mackenzie reminds us that Tim at one point asked Brooke out on a date. After we revisit scenes from that episode, *Mackenzie explains that she’s baffled as to why Nicole wants to bring him to date party, because Tim is a jerk. *Nicole is nervous that Tim might cancel on her at the last minute.

Break to the hot tub, Mackenzie, Nicole, Doug (Mackenzie’s boyfriend) and Doug’s friend Mike are hanging out. *Mackenzie reiterates that Tim is an a$$hole, but she has this really great friend who is single and who Nicole appears to have some affinity for. Nicole and Mike flirt in the hot tub by spraying water at each other, and everyone else piles out of the hot tub in order to give them some alone time. The Barry White, sexy music begins to play in the background, and *Mackenzie tells us that Mike has really become comfortable with all of her pledge sisters. In the meantime, everyone gathers upstairs to watch Mike put the moves on Nicole. Now what follows is kind of sad, because Mike has no game. Upstairs Mackenzie makes a similar observation that Mike is “unsmooth”.

After commercial break, Nicole rests her foot on Mike’s leg, and the crowd giggles uncontrollably upstairs. *Mackenzie thinks that Mike is making an effort, but Nicole is sending him some very mixed messages. Then the conversation turns to Tim. Mike tells Nicole that she can do better than Tim, but if she likes what he brings to the table, then good for him. Nicole doesn’t appear ready to talk about it, and Mackenzie has a violent reaction to Nicole’s nonchalance. But the watching party comes to an end, Nicole catches the crew staring down at them, so Nicole and Mike get out of the hot tub squelching any possibility of burgeoning romance. *Nicole knows that Mike likes her, but she just doesn’t really feel that way about him, and she still really likes Tim.

Later that evening Tim calls. He confirms with Nicole that he can go to the formal with her, but he is concerned that the sisters are still pi$$ed off at him. Nicole insists that the other girls don’t hate him. Tim calls her a liar, but Nicole denies that saying…

    Nicole: “Maggie likes you.”

*Maggie says that Tim is just really shady.

    Nicole: “Mackenzie likes you.”

    *Mackenzie just doesn’t like him.

Nicole: “All my pledge sisters like you.”

*Julia says that everyone hates Tim.

Nicole: “It’s just the sisters that have issues with you.”

    *Talia thinks that Tim sucks.

Nicole: “But I don’t care I want to go to date party with you.”

*Maggie says that nothing about Nicole’s relationship with Tim surprises them anymore.

Nicole tells Tim that all the people who really matter to her do like him, so she doesn’t care what the sisters think. Brooke runs out of the room in denial, while Nicole continues to convince Tim that he should enter the dragon’s den with her. *Nicole reiterates that she likes Tim and doesn’t care, if anyone has a problem with it, and Tim has been a lot more open and attentive with her in the recent past

Back to dateless Brook, *Nicole plots with Tim to get Brooke to take Jarreau to date party. (I’d like to point out here that if I were 19 years old Jarreau would totally be the one that I’d ask to date party granted he probably aspires one day to actually complete a thought, he is still a cutie-pie.) At dinner, Tim and Nicole on separate cell phones call Jarreau and Brooke to see if they want to get a drink. *Nicole admits their role as matchmaker. *Brooke thinks that Jarreau has date party potential, because she likes him as a friend. C’mon! He is adorable! Nicole confirms that Brooke is coming, so Tim gets Jarreau to go. Nicole calls Brooke back to confirm, but she starts to whine that it will feel awkward just the four of them. Nicole gets Brooke to relent, and then she tells Tim that Brooke says that it’s just as friends.

The foursome arrives at the bar, and they have order some fancy looking cocktails. *Nicole comments that it seems like there is some chemistry between Brooke and Jarreau. Then Jarreau eyes a woman across the room and exclaims that she is f@&%ing hot. Bye-bye chemistry. Brooke points out that Jarreau thinks everyone is hot, he denies it, Tim confirms that Jarreau is actually picky, but Brooke isn’t buying it. Before the evening ends, Brooke and Nicole go to the bathroom together, and Tim and Jarreau go to the bathroom together, and we get the really dish. Nicole asks Brooke is she would consider asking Jarreau to date party, Brooke waivers, and Nicole eggs her on. Tim asks Jarreau what he thinks of Brooke, Jarreau admits that Brooke is hot, but Tim points out that Brooke is really highly strung. Jarreau agrees saying that her personality just flips on a dime, and it’s just really weird.

The next night Nicole and Tim are out on the town again. *Nicole wants Brooke to ask Jarreau to the DZO date party. Tim calls Brooke from his cell phone at the dinner table—author’s note: these people clearly need to take lessons on the appropriateness of using a cell phone at a restaurant dinner table. Anyway Tim encourages Brooke to ask Jarreau out, but he gets the “frigid Brooke” personality tonight, so he lays out the situation for her. If she wants to ask him to date party, then she better ask him tonight. Undaunted Brooke declares this to be much more of a hassle then it is worth. Tim takes another tact, and he confesses to Brooke that Jarreau is interested in her. Brooke is a spaz, and she insists that the situation would just be friends. Tim tells her that he knows, and that is why he told Jarreau that she doesn’t really like any boys. Brooke hangs up in frustration.

Brooke relays the whole story to Brittany who is astounded (though I think Brittany would be astounded at the concept of running a comb through her nappy hair), meanwhile back at dinner, Tim and Nicole have a mutual sigh of frustration over Brooke’s split personality. Brittany and Brooke declare that Tim is a dork. *Brooke confesses that she always thought she would take Jarreau, but she had never actually visualized picking up the phone to ask, thus the whole ordeal is too much, so she will pass. Brittany offers little to no comfort to the situation, and it looks like Brooke will be flying solo.

It turns out that Maggie will also be attending the DZO date party stag. This announcement sends Brooke into a flurry of excitement that can only be described as fake. Really do you want to be going solo, if your counterpart is Maggie? *Maggie explains that she doesn’t want to bring someone that she doesn’t want to share something special with—people repeat after me, “It’s a date party, not an exchange of bodily fluid!” Brooke’s faux flurry of excitement continues for a few brief seconds before the realization that going by herself (like Maggie) makes her a loser. *Brooke second guesses not bring someone, because she’ll have to sit out the slow songs, and still we have no resolution to the date party dilemma.

Now, it’s the eve of date party, and the girls are at the salon to get their hair and make-up done. *Nicole is feeling rushed and looking exceptionally pouty. I must confess that I’ve always thought that I looked pretty bad in mid-styling at the salon, but I can’t possibly have looked worse than Lara, Courtney and Nicole. Two words—hy-ness….heinous. *Nicole reveals her nervousness about her styling saying that it looks like she stuck her finger in a light socket (and it does). When all is said and styled, everyone is happy except Nicole, but they must go home to don formal gear.

Back at the pledge house, anticipation runs high. Maggie’s bosoms are practically bursting forth from her dress, but *she explains that she is attending the function alone, because she just doesn’t want a date, but at least she has Brooke. When did they become best friends? *Brooke is still reeling from the peer pressure of associate with needing a date, but at least she has Maggie. *Nicole really wants things with Tim to go well, but Tim is late. The girls exchange knowing glances about the fact that Tim is an a$$hole. *Maggie points out that this is typical Tim. Nicole’s pacing quickens, but then…a knock at the door…Tim finally with a rose in hand takes Nicole’s breathe away. *Nicole reiterates how mush she wants Tim to kiss her and hopes that the kiss comes tonight.

Date party begins with a bus ride to Canadia, a flurry of photos and disco music. After the appropriate kudos to Courtney for successfully navigating the waters of date party planning have been given, there are a few shots of Tim looking uncomfortable. Finally, he broaches the subject of why the sisters hate him with Nicole who looks at him like he is crazy. *Tim admits that he feels awkward, because everyone hates him…which is true. Nicole introduces Tim to Courtney who scoffs him immediately and walks away—way to be the bigger person.

Undaunted by his surroundings, Tim tells Brooke that he has picked out the perfect location to plant a first kiss on Nicole. Brooke gives a rousing endorsement, if only to shut Nicole up. What follows is a few scenes of Tim staring at Nicole knowingly, Nicole dancing the night away unknowingly and Brooke running around the room whispering Tim’s secret to all of the other pledges. Nicole exits the dance floor, sits down next to Tim, and holds his hand. Finally, Tim asks her to go on a walk. *Mackenzie admits that though the pledges aren’t crazy about Tim, they are happy for Nicole, since she is crazy about Tim.

Under the moonlight to some guitar strumming, folksinger music that I guess qualifies as romantic, Tim plants one on Nicole, then another…and another…and another…and they are basically in make-out mode. *Nicole says that it was the most romantic moment of her life, and she is glad that she waited so long.

Back at the dance, the girls are singing in unison to Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer”, but they’ve changed the “Oh, oh, we’re half way there” verse to “Oh, oh, D-Z-O-Oh”. Barf. Nicole runs in to announce that Tim kissed her. Barf. *Mackenzie doesn’t think that Nicole has learned anything from the Tim experience, but at least they don’t have to listen to her complain about the kiss anymore. Amen!

Next episode features the DZO New Orleans getaway and what appears to be the DZO WWF Smackdown—Midwestern Moms (Nicole and Brooke) face off against the Ghetto Gorillas (Brittany and Julia).
